The precedent boards display information/ideas gathered during research in order to give rise to a concept design for the wall mounted hook. A functional hinge design and an actual hook design were the two elements that had to be considered. The Wall Mounted Hook is made up of two parts, the wall mount and the hook, which had to be made out of one material (aluminium).

A drawing was made using a circle stencil, compass and set square. The ideas gathered on the precedent boards made it easier to come up with a final design.

SolidWorks was used to create a draft drawing of the hook. Specifications (Wall thickness, material and mass) were restricted so the prototype could be 3D printed. A clearance gap of 0.2mm was used between the two parts to allow for smooth hinge movement.

After having made the first triplex model, flaws were noticed and a second model, addressing the flaws had to be made.

A more refined triplex model was made and cut out using a cutting knife, a pair of scissors and a Dremel was used to sand the rough edges to allow for easier hinge movement.

The hook was sketched on SolidWorks and then extruded. ABS plastic was used to make up the parts so that it could be 3D printed with the same material.
